The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.
HJF is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow responsible for initiating and carrying out all related research, teaching and scholarly activities under supervision from the study principal investigator (PI). Working closely with the PI and other accomplished faculty, the selected fellow is expected to gain experience and skills in areas critical to succeed in an academic environment, with an emphasis on research, publication, grant writing and opportunities to teach as needed.
This position will be in support of the social and behavioral sciences (SBS) division of the Department of Preventive Medicine and Biostatistics, at the Uniformed Service University of the Health Sciences (PMB-USUHS), in Bethesda, Maryland.
This position requires the postdoctoral fellow to support the social and behavioral sciences division research activities including but not limited to the following: i) Addressing Military Health Providers Burnout, to Improve Readiness and Retention study; ii) Leveraging Stress Response and Adaptive Coping Strategies among USUHS Graduate Students to Improve Military Readiness; iii) Perceptions of Health Status among active-duty U.S. Military Service Members.
Responsibilities
-Contribute to the development of the research protocol and relevant study tools. -Coordinate qualitative and quantitative data collection efforts. -Conduct qualitative and quantitative data analysis and interpretation. -Synthesize results of research and draft manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed journals as co-author and/or lead. -Synthesize study findings to inform the design of culturally relevant solutions to address burnout among military health care providers. -Prepare data and write specific reports and presentations for professional meetings, symposia and research groups. -This position may require the ability to travel domestically within the US during data collection phases and intervention implementation phases. -Mainstream work efforts and resources with other departments at USUHS to promote a healthy work environment. -Foster and develop new collaborations with Department of Defense (DoD), universities, stakeholders, and research entities that benefit the research project. -Support the writing of grant proposals for funding by reputable governmental and non- governmental agencies. -May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for the role.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
-Skills in applied social and behavioral sciences in qualitative and quantitative research. -Experience in designing and implementing research projects, including protocol development, submitting protocols for ethical approval, and questionnaire development. -Experience in primary data collection including in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and quantitative surveys. -Experience in data management and qualitative and quantitative data analysis using relevant software. -Experience in integrating and analyzing data from multiple data sources into actionable insights. -Emerging track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals. -Demonstrated ability to work under short deadlines. -Verbal and written communication skills for preparing data reports and presentations. -Ability to work independently at times and/or without direct supervision.

This position will take place primarily in a laboratory setting.
Education and Experience
-Doctoral degree -Minimum of 0-5 years experience required.
Compensation
The likely salary range for this position is $47,600 to $75,000 USD annually. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensations or salary. Final salary will be determined based on market analysis, experience, and education.
