Position Description: |
IP Unit Supervisor:
The IP Unit Supervisor is responsible for the leadership, direction, management, and supervision of the IP Unit.
Primary responsibilities include:
Coordinating and overseeing public health activities conducted by unit staff. The unit’s assistance includes outbreak response, education on infection prevention and control (IPC) guidance, individual facility IPC practice assessments with tailored recommendations, and other infection prevention-related activities. Collaborating with the HAI and TB Section Manager and HAI Surveillance and Education Unit Supervisor to develop and implement evidence-based protocols to reduce HAIs and improve outbreak response, to contribute to the development of national protocols and standards, and to meet all HAI Program activities indicated through state and federal partnerships and requirements.
HAI Surveillance and Education Unit Supervisor:
The HAI Surveillance and Education Unit Supervisor is responsible for the leadership, direction, management, and supervision of the HAI Surveillance and Education Unit.
Primary responsibilities include:
Coordinating and overseeing public health activities conducted by unit staff. This unit: Provides external individual and group HAI surveillance support for the CDC National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) and Wisconsin Electronic Disease Surveillance System (WEDSS). Coordinates laboratory support with the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene for outbreaks. Monitors and communicates statewide HAI data. Develops educational communications messaging in a variety of platforms (website, fact sheet, guides, etc.) on infection prevention and control guidance, outbreaks, and HAI surveillance data. Performs other HAI prevention- and response- related activities as indicated through the CDC ELC grant that funds the HAI Program. Collaborating with the HAI and TB Section Manager and IP Unit Supervisor to develop and implement evidence-based protocols to reduce HAIs and improve outbreak response, to contribute to the development of national protocols and standards, and to meet all HAI Program activities indicated through state and federal partnerships and requirements. Both positions’ supervisory responsibilities encompass supervising, managing, and directing staff. Other duties include administrative, fiscal, liaison, and reporting activities of programs. These positions contribute to the federal grant application, budget, and performance measures that fund the units in conjunction with the HAI and TB Section Manager.

Qualifications: |
Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:
Experience in a leadership or supervisory role performing duties such as leading a multidisciplinary team, reviewing work of others, hiring staff, disciplining staff, training, etc. Experience with program or project management for communicable disease or health care programs. Experience obtaining or managing funding for a program including tasks such as writing grants, managing budgets, managing contracts, etc. Experience responding to media inquiries or presenting information to the general public and professional audiences. Well-qualified applicants will have at least one of the following:
Experience summarizing communicable disease data or program metrics into reports or publications. Training or experience with reviewing and implementing infection prevention practices. Experience providing consultation, technical assistance, or outreach to local health departments, infection preventionists, or healthcare providers on communicable diseases or infection prevention practices.

The Division of Public Health (DPH) within the Department of Health Services (DHS), works with our local and tribal public health partners, and community groups statewide, on a wide variety of programs and services that protect the health of Wisconsin residents.
DPH is recruiting the Infection Prevention (IP) Unit Supervisor and the Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) Surveillance and Education Unit Supervisor, within the Bureau of Communicable Disease (BCD). These positions may be located at one of the five Regional Offices and will work full-time, Monday-Friday with daytime hours. These positions may work up to 3 days remotely and 2 days from one of the state regional office buildings. This schedule may vary based on training or operational needs.
