Position Description: |
The State of Connecticut, Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Health Program Assistant 2 to join our team. This position will be located within the Practitioner Investigation Unit (PIU), which is part of the Healthcare Quality and Safety branch of DPH. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS: Work Schedule: Typically Monday - Friday Work Hours: Full-time, First Shift, 35 hours per week There may be opportunities for an alternate work schedule and working remotely in accordance with State policies. Location: 410 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: Working independently and as part of a team to investigate complaints against licensed healthcare professionals to determine potential violations of laws, regulations, or standards of care identified in statutes affecting public health and safety Managing an investigation caseload which includes collection of evidence in the form of legal documents, witness statements, and other forms of evidence Conducting site visits to determine the validity of the complaint or determine the extent of non-compliance Analyzing evidence, maintaining activity logs documenting case work, writing detailed investigatory reports, and preparing materials for expert review Exercising discretion in handling confidential information

Qualifications: |
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE Six (6) years of experience in a professional capacity in a health organization. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE One (1) year of the General Experience must have been in health care program administration, a health systems agency or other health care organization in at least one of the following areas:
1. grant writing or monitoring; 2. formal program planning, development, management or evaluation; 3. or program consultation.
For State Employees this is interpreted at the level of Health Program Assistant 1.
Note: A health care organization is defined as a large multi-dimensional agency with responsibility for developing health programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED 1. College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (l5) semester hours equals six (6) months of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree. 2. A Master's degree in public health, health education, hospital administration, or public administration or other closely related field may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience. 3. For State Employees one (1) year as a Health Program Assistant 1 may substitute for the General and Special Experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience working in the dental field with licensed dental providers and familiarity of dental laws, regulations, and best practices Experience organizing, reviewing, and maintaining dental records and documents Experience participating in or managing an infection control program in a dental setting Experience independently writing professional correspondence and reports that document facts and convey analysis of facts Experience understanding the application of dental statutes and regulations to office- based policies, record review, and practice
