Position Description: |
Responsibilities Health Research, Inc. is seeking a Senior Laboratory Technician to join Wadsworth Center’s Division of Environmental Health Sciences. The incumbent will work on the Food Emergency Response Network (FERN) program. FERN is a grant funded federal program established to monitor foods for toxic compounds, providing an early means of detecting threat agents in the American food supply. The incumbent will assist with extraction and analysis of toxic organic chemicals in foods using Solid Phase Extraction (SPE), gas chromatography coupled mass spectrometry (GC-MS), and liquid chromatography coupled tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). The Wadsworth Center is New York State’s research and public health laboratory. The Center is committed to protecting and improving the health of New Yorkers through laboratory analysis, investigations, and research.

Qualifications: |
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field; OR an Associate degree in a related field and one years of experience in a laboratory or clinical setting; OR four years of such experience. This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting may not be available. If telecommuting is available, the incumbent will be required to have a telephone/mobile device, and internet access. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or related science field; OR anticipated graduation with Bachelor’s degree in May-2023 in a related field. Demonstrated hands-on experience with small molecules using solid phase extraction (SPE), gas chromatography coupled mass spectrometry (GC/MS) or high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) in addition to tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS).
