Position Description: The Hourly Project Assistant II will be part of a professional data team supporting efforts to improve security and privacy protection in COVID data reporting at New York State Department of Health. The incumbent will also assist in the implementation of prioritized projects and perform other related duties as necessary.

This position is anticipated to last until July 2024 and the incumbent in this position may work full time, up to 12 weeks. Thereafter, the incumbent may work up to 53.33% effort (or 20 hours/week).

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications Undergraduate or Graduate Student enrolled in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Public Health or related field.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting may not be available. If telecommuting is available, the incumbent will be required to have a telephone/mobile device, and Internet access.

Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated understanding of incident categories, responses, and timelines. Experience collecting data and/or delivering results and/or handling and reporting security issues, and/or providing incident response. Experience and/or knowledge of computer science, with a demonstrated understanding of network operations and software development concepts and methodologies. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, OneNote, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, etc.)

(HRI) contributes to the health and well-being of the people of New York State by complementing and enabling the strategic public health goals of the New York State Department of Health (DOH), Roswell Park Cancer Institute Corporation (RPCIC), and other health-related entities. HRI provides best-in-class resource administration for stakeholders and programs related to the work and priorities of the Department of Health and its other partners. HRI does this through the provision of knowledge, expertise, funding guidance, and fiduciary oversight of sponsored program funding for public health and research programs in concert with community partnerships.
