Position Description: |
The Health Program Coordinator I will work within the Bureau of Environmental Exposure Investigation (BEEI) in the Center for Environmental Health. The incumbent will join a team of public health professionals to work on the ATSDR grant entitled, "New York State’s Cooperative Agreement Partnership to Reduce Environmental Exposures”.
The incumbent will develop health assessments and health consultations of environmentally contaminated sites; evaluate and summarize environmental data; and review all documents prepared by health assessors to assure compliance with DOH/HRI and ATSDR policies and procedures. The incumbent will design and analyze public education and outreach activities, oversee informal and formal needs assessments, and facilitate collaborative efforts with partner agencies and stakeholders. The incumbent will coordinate the activities of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure that all workgroup members are aware of and working towards work plan objectives and time frames and will coordinate completion of documents and communication with state and federal agencies. The incumbent will develop workplans and timetables, monitor progress, write reports and attend monthly and annual meetings. The Health Program Coordinator I will be the primary contact for ATSDR and environmental agencies regarding the program. The incumbent will perform other appropriate related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: |
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, geology, engineering, geochemistry, industrial hygiene, or environmental sciences or a related field and three years of experience in program coordination in a public health, health, health regulatory, or human services related program; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. At least one year of experience must have included supervision of staff and/or program management. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.
This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting may not be available. If telecommuting is available, the incumbent will be required to have a telephone/mobile device, and internet access.

Preferred Qualifications At least three years of experience in program coordination in an environmental or public health program. Experience with environmental remediation/hazardous waste site projects and investigation experience. Experience reviewing environmental data. Demonstrated strong communication skills, both written and oral. Program management experience.
