Position Description: Postdoctoral positions are available in Dr. Jindan Yu’s laboratory in the Department of Urology and the Winship Cancer Institute at Emory University, located in Atlanta, GA, USA. The Yu lab combines bioinformatics analysis with cutting-edge genomics technologies to investigate genomic, epigenomic, and immunological regulations of cancer with a specific interest in hormonal transcription factors and chromatin modifiers. Our research focuses on delineating the molecular mechanisms underlying prostate cancer progression and developing novel therapeutic strategies for advanced diseases (Lu et al., Nature Genetics, 2022; Fong et al., Mol Cell, 2022; Park et al., Sci Adv. 2021; Song et al., J Clin Invest, 2018; Xu et al., Cell Res 2019). https://labs.feinberg.northwestern.edu/yu. Dr. Yu’s laboratory was recently relocated to Emory University. Highly motivated individuals with strong interests in the areas of cancer biology, genomics, epigenomics, bioinformatics, or translational cancer research are invited to apply.

Helps design and conduct research in the field of prostate cancer genomics and immunology while receiving advanced training from the Principal Investigator to enhance professional skills and research independence needed for pursuit of a career. Designs and evaluates experiments. Develops new ideas that promote current research. Prepares and publishes scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator. May be responsible for operation of specific equipment. May teach techniques to others, train, and supervise research staff. Positions are temporary appointments as a research trainee. The initial appointment is for one year, renewal expected if progress is satisfactory, and funds are available. Appointments cannot exceed five years.

Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Bioinformatics, or related fields. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. The successful applicant will have a positive attitude, a collaborative mindset, logical scientific thinking, and good technical skills in molecular/cellular biology. Preference will be given to candidates with a track record of first- author publications in peer-reviewed journals.
