Job Description - Assistant Director of Shared Services (2300035N) (taleo.net)
Position: Assistant Director of Shared Services
Office of Local and Regional Health
The Office of Local and Regional Health (OLRH) is seeking a passionate and experienced leader in the field of public health to fill the role of Assistant Director of Shared Services. This role will support the OLRH Director of Shared Services in the implementation of the Special Commission on Local and Regional Public Health’s Blueprint for Public Health Excellence’s (Blueprint) recommendations. The Blueprint defines a detailed roadmap of recommendations to support and inform the development of a major statewide initiative to build a local public health infrastructure. The Assistant Director will lead the planning of one of the key recommendations: increasing cross- jurisdictional sharing of public health services to strengthen the service delivery capabilities of local public health departments, take advantage of economies of scale, and coordinate planning. The goal is to expand the number and scope of comprehensive public health districts, formal shared services agreements, and other arrangements for sharing public health services effectively, efficiently, and equitably.
The Assistant Director will lead the Public Health Excellence Grant for Shared Services (PHE) grant program activities. PHE provides funding to develop cross-jurisdictional sharing arrangements and establish shared services arrangements that will increase the capacity of local boards of health to carry out their statutory powers and duties. This role will also oversee other cross- jurisdictional shared services grants, stand- alone grants and mini-grants.
Public health and racial equity policies is a major priority for MDPH and an essential component to this major statewide initiative. This Assistant Director must integrate Public Health and racial equity principles throughout OLRH’s shared services work at the state and local level to recognize and address the disparate health outcomes for marginalized populations.
