Position Description: Senior-level staffer providing regulatory and inspection services related to Environmental Health activities such as food establishment permitting, swimming pool permitting, plan review and disease outbreak investigations.

Qualifications: TO APPLY, must have a Master's degree or higher + Two (2) full-time years of work experience in a related field. OR TO APPLY, must possess a Bachelor's degree + Seven (7) full-time years of work experience in a related field.

TO APPLY, must be a Registered Professional Sanitarian in Texas.

TO APPLY, must have a valid Driver License. Note: A Texas Driver License is required to hold the position.

Detailed knowledge of Texas Food Establishment Rules, Texas Standards for Swimming Pools and Spas, Federal and State rule interpretations relative to applicable rules, Texas law relating to Sanitation and Health Protection.

Ability to read and understand engineering and architectural designs and plans.

Must be able to communicate ideas of a technical nature to people without technical training.

Must be able to interpret data and draw conclusions based on the analysis.

Organization Description: 1. Performs inspections of regulated facilities to ensure compliance with laws, rules and regulations. 2. Performs investigations of complaints. 3. Prepares written reports and correspondence of activities. 4. Educates the general public on matters of Public Health. 5. Interacts with members of the general public and other governmental officials. 6. Appears in court as part of enforcement of laws, rules and regulations. 7. Reviews plans of permitted facilities. 8. Investigates disease outbreaks. 9. Assists in training other staff members. 10. Produces reports and presentations. 11. Gathers and analyzes information to make recommendations and decisions. 12. Provides technical assistance to staff members in a variety of fields. 13. Travels to sites where inspections, investigations or education takes place. 14. Assists in collection of data for productivity analysis of work unit. 15. Assists with budget preparation. 16. Provides technical assistance for electronic data collection systems. 17. Coordinates Food Defense program activities. 18. Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of the Public Health.
