| Position Description: |
The Immunity and Disease Prevention Unit of the USDA Western Human Nutrition Research Center in Davis, California, is seeking a postdoctoral research associate in diet, health and food systems access for a two-year appointment. The goal of the research fellowship is to develop and test metrics for describing dietary diversity using techniques from the field of ecology. The incumbent will develop algorithms for calculating versions of the diversity metric; use existing 24-hour dietary recall datasets to test and validate the metric; and conduct studies using the new metric to describe individual and household diets in relation to chronic disease risk and food access patterns.

| Qualifications: |
This position requires a Ph.D. in nutrition, epidemiology, statistics, public health or related field. Statistical analysis skills are required, preferably including experience with multi-level and/or survey-weighted modeling, data manipulation with large datasets, and proficiency in SAS and/or R. Experience with dietary intake data analysis, especially dietary recall or food record data, is strongly preferred.
