Position Description: |
This position supports the California Department of Public Health's (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by providing leadership for evidence-based decision-making to ensure home visiting programs are targeted to high need populations and implemented as intended and according to federal requirements.
The Research Scientist Supervisor I will provide supervision, administrative guidance, and direction to the staff of the Home Visiting Federal Data Reporting Unit. The incumbent provides scientific leadership and oversight of data system configuration, maintenance and operations for the home visiting programs. Ensure compliance with mandated federal reporting, oversee program monitoring and evaluation activities, and conduct early childhood systems integration efforts in home visiting for the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health (MCAH) Division. The RSS I will ensure studies and collaborative scientific research and evaluation projects are in accordance with the mandates and directives of the State Committee for the Protection of Human Subjects.
The incumbent works under the general direction of the Research Scientist Supervisor II, Chief of the Home Visiting and Systems Evaluation Section.
This position involves in-state travel, up to 5%.

Qualifications: |
Experience: Three years of experience in the California state service performing scientific research duties comparable to those of a Research Scientist II in the stated specialty or a closely related field. Research involved in the completion of the dissertation required for the doctoral degree may be substituted for one year of the required experience. and
Education: Possession of a master's degree in the stated specialty or in a closely related field.
