Position Description: |
The Department of Nutrition and Food Studies at NYU invites applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor position in nutrition and health that will begin in September 2024. NYU Steinhardt provides undergraduate and graduate education in the areas of culture, education, and human development, and includes several departments focused on health and health services. This position will provide the nutrition expertise for a new NYU Steinhardt Undergraduate Health Studies program. We are seeking candidates with a clearly-articulated research agenda, teaching philosophy, and practice and research experience in nutrition, health, and wellness. The candidate will also support our accredited didactic program in dietetics, Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition, and PhD in Nutrition and Dietetics. Potential areas of research interest include but are not limited to nutrition and health promotion, nutrition and chronic disease, and nutrition needs of multicultural and underserved populations. Areas of interest should complement the existing faculty in the Department of Nutrition and Food Studies and expand interdisciplinary collaboration in the Steinhardt School and the larger NYU community. We are committed to substantially increasing the proportion of our faculty from historically underrepresented groups as we strive to create the most intellectually diverse, inclusive, and equitable institution that we can, and especially encourage candidates from historically underrepresented groups to apply.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will conduct an active program of research including publications and extramural funding; teach, advise, and mentor students at all levels; supervise student research; participate in department program development; and serve on program, department, School, and University committees. The ideal candidate will also collaborate with other School or University faculty and community members.

Qualifications: |
Candidates should have a doctoral degree in nutrition or a closely related field. Registered Dietitians (RD) are encouraged to apply. Candidates should also have a strong record of or potential for publication, research, and external funding; experience with conducting applied or clinical nutrition research; commitment to teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. Achieving our department’s mission requires this position to support the core nutrition courses and programs in concert with the Steinhardt mission for advancing knowledge in human development and well-being through rigorous research and education
