Position Description: |
This leadership position will serve as the HIV, STI, Viral Hepatitis and Syndemic Coordination Program Director. The Director will have cross-cutting responsibility to ensure programmatic activities meet TDH goals and CDC cooperative agreement deliverables. A strong emphasis on empowering and enabling individual program goals and objectives will be key for this leadership position. Primary responsibilities will include support and direction of program directors and close collaboration with division leadership, divisional administrative and informatics teams, and department leadership to facilitate programmatic success. The Program Director will be responsible for working in an integrated manner with programs while maintaining and growing community-engagement. This will include a role in coordination with regional and metropolitan health department partners. Applicants should be familiar with sound epidemiological approaches for surveillance and outbreak response. Applied Epidemiology training in a CDC or CSTE program is preferred. The Program Director will assist with collection and evaluation of data to guide program and policy development. The position requires extensive public health program management experience, epidemiological training, and strong collaboration and leadership skills. The activities are all within the Tennessee Department of Health, Division of Communicable and Environmental Diseases and Emergency Preparedness (CEDEP). The Division includes a wide range of programs, including immunizations, healthcare associated infections, TB, environmental health, emergency preparedness, and general communicable diseases. All CEDEP team members are expected to respond to public health emergencies.
• Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of public health programs to prevent HIV, STI and viral hepatitis infections and reduce the morbidity and mortality related to existing infections. • Support service-delivery components and administration of the HIV program, i.e., Ryan White program activities. • Lead cross-cutting Syndemic Coordination efforts contributing to harm-reduction efforts in Tennessee (e.g., Syringe Services Programs). • Collaborate and strategize with a highly motivated group of team members including Directors of STI, Viral Hepatitis, HIV, and Syndemic Coordination programs. • Seek and oversee the preparation and management of state and federal funding applications. • Oversee a multimillion-dollar budget and talented team. • Serve as liaison with local health departments, state and national governmental agencies, and academic and community-based partners.

Qualifications: |
• Doctoral level training (e.g., DrPH, MD) and/or extensive Applied Epidemiology training. • Extensive Program Management experience. • Prior work experiences in governmental public health at the city, state, and/or federal level. • Experience in the field of HIV, STI, Viral Hepatitis, or infectious diseases. • Five or more years of full-time supervisory work. • Experience preparing grant applications and managing large budgets. • Strong oral and written communication, team building, program management and evaluation, decision making, leadership and computer skills.
