Position Highlights:
Position Title: Health Equity Epidemiology Program Manager Location: Remote Position End Date: 6/30/2024 Salary: $105,000 plus benefits
Overview:
The CDC Foundation is seeking a Health Equity Epidemiology Program Manager who will be responsible for reporting back to CDC and the CDC Foundation on the needs and gaps in working areas. This role will support the Office of Statistics and Evaluation in the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s (MDPH) Bureau of Community Health and Prevention (BCHAP).
Responsibilities:
· Work closely with diverse programs at MDPH to identify how EHR and survey data can be leveraged to answer timely and relevant surveillance and evaluation questions related to a wide variety of public health topics, including but not limited to: chronic disease, infectious disease, social determinants of health, climate and health, maternal & child health, mental health, etc. · Work independently and collaboratively with epidemiologists and program staff to design surveillance questions and analytic plans using novel data systems that enhance health equity surveillance for MDPH, specifically in highlighting inequities among priority populations that are insufficiently captured in traditional surveillance data systems. · Work independently and collaboratively to execute analytic plans using EHR and survey data based on surveillance and evaluation needs identified by specific internal or external programs or entities. · Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with various programs at MDPH to support data interpretation and data-to- action planning to inform programmatic decision making and communication efforts. · Working closely with colleagues, support the formulation of program-related goals, objectives, operating policies, strategic plans, guidelines, governance, standards, and priorities to ensure consistency with departmental standard operating procedures. · Develop effective communication and dissemination products, such as presentations, data briefs, data dashboards, for diverse audiences and stakeholders. · Work with staff to develop and implement/enhance systems and processes to ensure consistent, high-quality project management. · Fosters and maintains peer-to-peer relationships with subject matter experts, funders, partners, and other stakeholders aimed at efficient and effective program implementation. · Support projects that enhance public health/public safety collaborations through the identification of appropriate local partners, qualitative and quantitative data collection, and dissemination of project findings.

This role is involved in a dynamic public health program. As such, roles and responsibilities are subject to change as situations evolve. Roles and responsibilities listed above may be expanded upon or updated to match priorities and needs, once written approval is received by both the CDC Foundation and Massachusetts Department of Public Health, in order to best support the State of Massachusetts in their public health programming.
This position is currently a remote position. CDC Foundation retains the right to make adjustments to this as required. Qualifications: |
Minimum Qualifications:
· Master’s or doctoral degree in public health, epidemiology or another related field · Must have experience equivalent to that of a public health official with 5 years of experience preferred at the national, state, or local level. · Strong knowledge of epidemiologic study design and statistical methodology. · Extensive experience conducting data analyses using SAS, R, or another statistical software. · Experience working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and engaging in strategic partnerships with a strong understanding of facilitating the use of data to inform program planning and/or resource allocation. · Extensive experience presenting and explaining data and epidemiologic concepts to non-technical audiences. · Professional experience in public health in a program management role or, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility and leadership. Philanthropic, nonprofit or government and/or public health leadership preferred. · Ability to handle a variety of constituencies, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in a complex environment while balancing multiple competing priorities. · Excellent judgment and decision making, with strong analytical skills, business intuition and business acumen. · Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint · Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience with conducting surveillance and evaluation activities in an applied public health setting related to health equity, social determinants of health, chronic disease, violence and injury prevention and services, and other public health topics. · Understanding of electronic health records (EHR) data or healthcare databases and prior experience with analyzing EHR or clinical datasets. · Experience developing analysis plans that answer health equity-related research or evaluation questions. · Experience with analyzing and aggregating health data at various geographic levels to understand place-based inequities and to inform needs assessments, community planning, and resource allocation. · Strong understanding of the structural drivers for health and how systems of advantage/oppression impact health · Experience developing evaluation plans that center equity and examine upstream interventions/policies. · Experience onboarding or cross-training staff with various levels of technical knowledge on analyzing data, understanding epidemiologic concepts, and interpreting data. · Prior experience using ArcGIS, Tableau, PowerBI, and other mapping/data visualization software.
