The State of Connecticut, Department of Public Health (DPH) is currently seeking a qualified individual for the position of Nurse Consultant for the Facility Licensing and Investigations Section. This position requires in-person visits to healthcare facilities to conduct the survey process and investigations. See below for additional information on this great opportunity!

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS: Location: 410 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT Work Schedule: Typically Monday - Friday Work Hours: Full-time, First Shift, 35 hours per week, some off hours required Please Note: A flexible/alternate work schedule and/or some telework opportunities may be available. This position is grant funded with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2024 and may be extended as needed.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: Performs on-site inspection surveys of health care or psychiatric facilities and provides consultation regarding licensure and certification laws, regulations and policies Evaluates quality of services rendered by facility Monitors facilities during strikes Prepares relevant federal and state forms and reports; May testify in court relative to findings of inspections and/or investigations

Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been in a public health nursing program, home health care agency, community health care setting, or in a hospital. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED A Bachelor's degree in nursing may be substituted for one (1) year of the General Experience. A Master's degree in health services administration, nursing or public health may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience organizing data and evaluating and analyzing proper care and treatment in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations and professional standards in healthcare. Experience with computerized data bases, electronic medical records, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word. Experience with conducting investigations and documenting facts, findings and outcomes. Experience with independently interviewing consumers, health care providers and healthcare beneficiaries. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Incumbents in this class must possess and retain a current license as a registered professional nurse in Connecticut.
