Position Description: As a Provide® Epidemiologist, you play a crucial role in advancing the Washington State Department of Health's mission to enhance public health. Your responsibilities include independently planning and developing data queries, ensuring data quality, and actively contributing to system governance. You will serve as a key subject matter expert bridging data systems and program activities and make a significant impact on the HIV Client Services and HIV Prevention programs. Join us in safeguarding and improving the health of Washington State residents.

Work Setting and Flexibility

Home-based – Our approach to work is flexible. You'll primarily work remotely from your home location with an occasional on-site presence at the DOH office in Tumwater, WA. We're extending our reach to include remote applicants from across Washington State, the Oregon/Washington border, and the Idaho/Washington border.

Qualifications: Required Qualifications

Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in public health, health care administration, social services, science, or allied field and four (4) years of professional management or consultative experience in a health services program?

OR

Option 2: Master’s degree in public health, health care administration, social services, science, or allied field and two (2) years of professional management or consultative experience in a health services program

AND for both options two (2) or more years of experience in the following:

Monitoring data and using database software programs to extract, analyze and interpret data. SQL, SAS, R, or other software for data analysis and ad hoc queries. Providing data system training and technical assistance. Effective communication skills in both verbal and written forms with customers and community partners. Establishing and maintaining collaborative, productive working relationships, identifying, and proactively resolving conflict. Prioritizing and organizing work to adhere to timelines and deadlines.

Experience with Microsoft Office application skills, including Access, web conferencing, the internet and:

Microsoft Word – Create, format, and edit tables, charts, and graphs; insert and format sections, create headers and footers, and work with pictures and draw objects. Microsoft Excel – Develop and manipulate complex spreadsheets with multiple math functions, advanced filters, and links to external sources of information. Create custom toolbars and chart types, pivot tables, import data from other sources, filter lists, and use data analysis tools. Outlook – Compose, send, and respond to electronic mail. Utilizes e-mail program functions such as calendars and meeting requests. Microsoft PowerPoint – Create, format and edit presentations; insert and format slides, create linked charts and graphs and work with pictures and objects.
