Position Description: This Epidemiologist 2 is in the Epidemiology and Scientific Support Bureau at the Public Health & Safety Division and is responsible for providing epidemiology support to the childhood lead poisoning prevention program activities for the Montana Environmental Health Education and Assessment (MEHEA) Section. Responsibilities include: 1) Manage and analyze blood lead surveillance data and other environmental health-related data sources; 2) Analyze programmatic and service- related data to identify trends and risk factors; 3) Design, coordinate, and manage special surveillance or evaluation procedures in which no other existing data are available; 4) Develop and conduct various trainings related to epidemiology and program evaluation; and 5) Design and conduct program evaluations.

Qualifications: Knowledge of epidemiology principles and practices. Skill in programming in Statistical Analysis System (SAS), or Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Skill in descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. Meet minimum qualifications: Master’s degree in epidemiology, statistics, or a closely related degree. Three years of job-related experience in epidemiology. Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Preferred: Prior experience working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or geospatial epidemiology training experience.
