Position Description: Do you want to be part of a team that is building a culture of health in VT communities?

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, motivated leader who wants to guide a dedicated and caring interdisciplinary team with diverse expertise in the Bennington District Office. This team consists of a Public Health Nurse Supervisor, Public Health Nurses, Public Health Nutritionists, Public Health Specialists, and Administrative staff. District Directors mobilize staff and partners to create healthy communities by assessing needs, capacity building, planning, implementing programs, and evaluating outcomes to improve the health and well-being of Vermonters. At the local level, District Directors build relationships and forge connections with key stakeholders such as healthcare providers, hospitals, schools, businesses, and community coalitions.

The District Director needs to be a visionary leader who consistently evaluates the needs of the community and responds to emerging trends in collaboration with community partners.

Specific examples of work include: • Developing public health initiatives that reduce the prevalence of chronic disease • Engaging with diverse populations to move health equity efforts forward • Emergency preparedness response at the local level • Working with community leaders to embed the public health perspective in local decision-making

Applicants must have proven success in personnel management, supervision, problem- solving, communication, facilitation, assessment, planning, and evaluation. The successful candidate must demonstrate a solid understanding of public health and have a track record of building effective partnerships with diverse groups of stakeholders. Strong verbal and written communication skills, analytical skills, and stellar people skills are a must.

Qualifications: Master's degree or higher in public health, public administration, nursing or a closely related field AND four (4) years or more of progressively responsible professional experience in public health, health education, nursing or a human services field INCLUDING two (2) years in management, administration or program planning AND two (2) years or more in a supervisory role of staff and operations.

Bachelor's degree in public health, public administration, nursing or a closely related field AND six (6) years or more of progressively responsible professional experience in public health, health education, nursing or a human services field INCLUDING two (2) years or more in management, administration or program planning AND two (2) years or more in a supervisory role of staff and operations.
