The State of Connecticut, Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking two Public Health Physicians to join our teams within our Infectious Diseases Section. These positions will help lead our critical programs: the Healthcare Associate Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance (HAI-AR) program and the HIV/STD/TB & Hepatitis C surveillance program. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: Providing consultation to healthcare providers directly managing drug resistant infections, STDs, and TB Leading response to disease outbreaks of HAI, AR, STDs, TB, HIV and Hepatitis C Overseeing public health surveillance systems for both healthcare associated infections (HAI) and antimicrobial resistance (AR) or STDs, TB, HIV and Hepatitis C. The opportunity with the Healthcare Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance (HAI-AR) Program plays an integral role in the surveillance, prevention, and response for healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and antimicrobial resistance (AR), including DPH’s response to respiratory viral diseases including COVID-19. This position will coordinate activities of the HAI-AR Program, which provides subject matter expertise and technical assistance to nursing homes, assisted living facilities, congregate care facilities, hospitals, healthcare providers and other state agencies.
The opportunity leading our HIV/STD/TB & Hepatitis C surveillance programs oversees the disease surveillance activities across HIV/STD/TB & Hepatitis C. The Physician will provide consultation on case management of patients diagnosed with Tuberculosis, Hepatitis C, and sexually transmitted diseases including HIV. Both Public Health Physicians will work with the Director and Assistant Director of Infectious Diseases to promote public health practices that prevent disease transmission. The Public Health Physicians will work with program staff and CDC to ensure program activities align with CDC guidelines.
