Position Description: The Adolescent Health (AH) Program Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring the voices of adolescents in Tennessee are heard, by fostering coordination and collaboration from both internal and external partners across the state. They manage programs at a state level, bringing an adolescent focus to the forefront of public health issues. This position works with schools, as well as youth-serving and youth-advocating organizations to identify adolescent needs and innovative strategies to address disparities and social determinants of health. The AH Program Lead is expected to exhibit leadership and partnership-building capacity by being the focal point for internal and external partners, providing youth development opportunities, managing and evaluating programs focused on improving the health and well-being of adolescents, and providing technical assistance and support. Additionally, they provide coordination and oversight for programmatic projects, grant applications, assessment initiatives, data analysis, and other opportunities to achieve and sustain positive health outcomes for adolescents.

The AH Program Lead is primarily responsible for the development and management of comprehensive statewide adolescent health programming focused on the following topics: • Youth Engagement • Positive Youth Development • Physical Activity and Nutrition • Health Care Access and Services • Social Determinants of Health • Health Equity • Protective and Risk Factors o Healthy Relationships o Sexual Health and Education o Pregnancy Prevention o Dating Violence

Key Responsibilities: • Partner with adolescents in all aspects of programming through an advisory group as well as other appropriate channels. • Address adolescent health disparities through evidence-based practices and interventions. • Identify and communicate adolescent health and wellness needs to a range of stakeholders and audiences. • Develop and maintain partnerships with adolescent- serving organizations. • Advocate for and implement statewide programming to address adolescent health and wellness needs. • Create and implement a development plan to increase funding and resources to support adolescent programming. • Write grant applications and reports.

Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in adolescent health, public health program management, or related field; State government experience is a plus. • Understanding of adolescent development, health issues, and evidence- based interventions • Must have experience developing, implementing, and managing programs and/or projects. • Must pass a background check. • This position requires a high level of written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. The ideal candidate is someone who has the following additional skills: o Partnership Building Capacity o Networking o Problem-Solving o Critical and Analytical Thinking Skills o Time Management o Grant Writing and Management o Needs Assessment Development and Implementation o Detail-Oriented o Technical Support • Ability to work remotely and in the Nashville, TN office as needed. o In-office days average 1-2 times per month • Ability to travel throughout the State of Tennessee for meetings as needed with advanced notice. • Ability to travel out of state for national conferences and meetings an average of four times per year.
