The State of Connecticut, Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking a qualified individual to join our team as an Epidemiologist 1. This is an exciting opportunity to support our Immunization Program team and the ever-evolving public health immunization field. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: Creating and disseminating the annual school immunization survey, childcare immunization survey, and pre-k influenza immunization survey. Developing and delivering training for providers on accurate data collection and completion of surveys. Ensuring data completeness and quality reported through these surveys. Analyzing data reported and identifying changes or trends. Assisting with investigations of reportable diseases. The mission of the Immunization Program is to prevent disease, disability, and death from vaccine-preventable diseases in infants, children, adolescents and adults through surveillance, case investigation and control, monitoring of immunization levels, provision of vaccine, and professional and public education.

Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE Five (5) years of experience in a responsible technical or professional capacity in epidemiological investigations. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree. A Master's degree in a related discipline including community medicine, public health or a related health science may be substituted for the General Experience. A Doctorate in a related discipline such as medicine, public health or a natural or behavioral science may be substituted for the General Experience. Successful completion of a Connecticut Careers Trainee program approved by the Department of Administrative Services may be substituted for the General Experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience using computer software to manage, analyze and visualize epidemiologic data (Excel, R, SAS, ArcGIS, Power BI, Datawrapper). Experience interpreting and explaining analyses of quantitative data orally and in writing. Experience with immunization data and schedules. Experience using online computer platforms (e.g., REDCap, Microsoft Forms) to design and utilize data collection tools (e.g., surveys). Experience educating professionals with a wide range of backgrounds including clinical staff and the public.
