Position Description: Manage and implement assigned American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) activities within the Pediatric Pandemic Network (PPN) and other disaster readiness activities. Collaborate with partners within the PPN and other related initiatives (e.g., Emergency Medicaid Services for Children Innovation and Improvement Center) to integrate project activities, disseminate knowledge, and support partnerships/collaborations that maximize the role of AAP members in disaster planning efforts, including improving pediatric readiness in the hospital and pre-hospital settings.

Seeking the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in public health, health education, emergency management, or a related field required, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience. Master’s degree preferred.

• At least three years’ related experience in public health program planning and administration, including fiscal/budget responsibility, facilitating collaboration between various partners, editing/drafting correspondence and reports, and developing educational materials/resources, preferably related to disaster management activities.

• Experience with technical writing/editing, grants management/writing, pediatric public health issues, and working in a medical association, state public health agency, or national advocacy organization strongly preferred.

• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, diplomacy, critical thinking, project management, verbal/written communication skills required.

• Must be able to handle a heavy workload, manage multiple priorities simultaneously within established deadlines, work both independently and as part of a team, think creatively, take initiative, pay close attention to details, collaborate effectively with various internal and external constituents, quickly pivot as disaster response needs arise, and promote and maintain a positive and cooperative team-oriented work environment with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

• Strong technical acumen essential with proficiency in MS Office and the ability to learn and apply new technologies; experience with document collaboration platforms (e.g., SharePoint) and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., WebEx, Teams) preferred.

• Some travel and evening/weekend work required, along with the need for flexibility in arranging work schedule to accommodate availability of physicians and other subject matter experts.
