Position Description: |
Consultants develop and deliver exceptional analyses, guidance, and technical assistance to Kahuina’s clients. Consultants inspire and empower our clients and partners to leverage assets, overcome barriers, and improve community health and well-being.
Assigned to contract-based project teams, Consultants draw from their knowledge and experiences to provide scientific and management services that meet contract outcomes and exceed client expectations. They also contribute to the development of proposals, help gather information and research, draft content, and assist with tracking and coordination. As employees who interact with and serve clients on a daily basis, they embody and epitomize Kahuina’s core values and emphasize quality, dedication, and service. Consultants report to company leadership (e.g., Managers, Directors, Principals).
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Lead and contribute to project discovery activities which include conducting business process analyses, environmental scans, landscape analyses, literature reviews, and key informant interviews. • Develop use cases and recommendations for data exchange standards, public health systems, and governance applicable to federal, state, territorial, local, and tribal public health agency contexts. • Author analytic findings and recommendations in a variety of formats appropriate to the clients’ use and communication needs; e.g., summary reports, strategic plans, and briefings. • Facilitate peer learning and workgroup convenings of public health professionals and partners to advance public health data exchange. • Collaborate within project teams to elevate team performance and the quality of project deliverables. • Take ownership of assigned tasks and self-manage time and resources to ensure high-quality deliverables and adherence to project schedules consistent with Kahuina’s standards and exceeding client expectations. • Proactively identify and elevate project risks to the team lead. • Identify opportunities (e.g., strategies, processes, protocols and methods) to enhance team and business efficiencies. • Assist with proposal development and responses to other funding opportunities as assigned. • Apply lessons learned for continuous growth and professional development. • Follow company policies and practices to ensure accurate client billing and invoicing, support team and project management, inform project design and level of effort estimates, etc. • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: |
Education • A master's degree and 6+ years of public health experience or equivalent demonstration of mastery in the business’s core service area.
Other • Familiarity with data exchange standards and policies applicable to public health, including TEFCA, USCDI/+, HL7 FHIR, and f-criteria implementation guides. • Ability to travel for work, subject to approval and availability. • Availability during eastern standard time zone (UTC-4) work hours. • Continuous access to reliable high-speed internet service from residence or location(s) where work will be conducted. • Preference for previous experience working for a governmental public health agency.
