Position Description: POSITION DESCRIPTION: Supports the acquisition, management and analysis of data from multiple sites or sources. Supports the configuration and management of technology solutions supporting the receipt, transformation, validation and storage of data. Ensures that the uses of data through reports and queries are appropriate. Serves as an organizational consultant on matters relating to databases by providing ex-pertise to assist users in meeting their needs. Develops automated quality control procedures to assess quality of data and provides reports to data owners. Works effectively within a group setting in areas of de-sign of data collection instruments, database management, analysis of data, and creation of reports and dashboards. Develops and performs appropriate analyses. Provides explanations of analysis methods, as-sumptions made, and assists in interpretation of results and implications therein. Documents methods and results through development and maintenance of standard documentation artifacts including data dictionar-ies, standard operating procedures and analysis methodology descriptions. Works with onsite or field-based counterparts to coordinate consistent implementation of data quality control measures and provision of access to the central data repositories. Performs related responsibilities as assigned.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Senior Data Analyst will have responsibilities split across two ITI initia-tives, the Child Survival program and the Tropical Data service.

For Child Survival (50%):

The Senior Data Analyst is primarily responsible for providing support to the global Child Survival program through data cleaning, data management, and data reporting. They will have an opportunity to assist with the development of a new database and other tools to support program needs. The Senior Data Analyst will liaise with domestic and international stakeholders to verify, clean, and document data. They will be responsible for the preparation of reports for senior ITI management, the Child Survival Expert Committee (or a similar body), and other stakeholders and partners as requested and appropriate.

More specifically, the Senior Data Analyst will:

- Thoroughly review program data for inconsistencies and discrepancies. - Formulate, improve, and prepare all program materials involving the organization and analysis of data, including program metrics and a forecast of future drug needs. - Identify opportunities for data analysis and visual analytics to support transparent program reporting and increase efficiency and effectiveness of program activities. - Optimize connections and communication between separate data sources. - Formulate and prepare maps to show program needs and performance and assist with maintaining ITI's set of global shapefiles for this purpose. - Work with members of the ITI Data and Analytics Team, Program Team, Supply Chain Team, and exter-nal partners to ensure quality of data and prepare scientific publications or other reports. - Continually improve database by writing requirements, validating requirements, working with external developers, and testing new functionality and tools. - Travel domestically and internationally to attend essential meetings and other data-related activities (such as data audits or trainings, as needed). - Prepare reports for ITI management and donors on a regular basis, and other partners as appropriate. - Assist with multiple different data projects within ITI. - Contribute to the overall mission of the Task Force for Global Health.

For Tropical Data (50%):

The Senior Data Analyst is primarily responsible for providing the core data management service component of TD including support with electronic data capture, database management, and data cleaning and analysis. They will work closely with health ministries to tailor this service according to their experience and preferences. The Senior Data Analyst will collaborate closely with the core TD team hosted across four partner organiza- tions.

More specifically, the Senior Data Analyst will:

- Set up projects on TD web portal; manage data access and permissions, as directed by health ministry. - Provide support prior to mobile data collection: assign evaluation unit codes; code and test XML survey forms; support form download and validation process; code and validate SQL queries. - Provide support during mobile data collection: generate data updates 2-3 times per week per pro-ject; review data summaries and flag issues; review maps, including GPS distribution; troubleshoot phone and field issues with field supervisors; manage ticketing system. - Work closely with health ministries to make cleaning suggestions, perform data cleaning using SQL and log changes from raw form submissions. - Provide support after mobile data collection: perform final quality checks; conduct analyses of to generate prevalence estimates; support approval process and respond to Chief Scientist queries. - Support health ministries with data access and ad hoc data requests, including generating maps. - Update multiple project management tools. - Support development of resources and guides to support health ministries in utilizing the TD ser-vice. - Support data recorder trainings, as needed. - Prepare reports for weekly meetings, including project-specific status updates and global counts. - Participate in weekly Tropical Data meetings, answering specific project-related questions. - Review and contribute to manuscripts for publication, preparing data summaries as needed. - Prepare datasets with codebooks for health ministries for inclusion in global analyses. - Uphold data sharing principles between ITI and TD. - Work in close collaboration with TD Data Team and assist with special projects as necessary.

TRAVEL: 10-20% domestic and international travel

Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, and three years of experience in processes and standards related to data, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Experience with relational database management systems such as, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL or PostgreSQL preferred. Experience with statistical packages such as, SAS, SPSS, R preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Master of Public Health with a focus in Epidemiology or Biostatistics, Master of Data Science, Master in Analytics, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience - One year of experience working in SQL database environment - 1-2 years managing data for a health- related field - Three years demonstrated analytical expertise and familiarity with statistical software packages (R pre-ferred) - One year demonstrated experience with GIS software - Prior experience with electronic data capture systems and familiarity with XML - Prior experience in compiling and communicating results with stakeholders - Excellent written and verbal English communication skills (additional proficiency in French would be an asset) - Demonstrated attention to detail - Intercultural mindfulness and sensitivity - Strong initiative and ability to work independently and on a team - Strong interpersonal and communication skills - Ability to undertake domestic and international travel (10-20%), including weekends

Organization Description: TFGH BACKGROUND: The Task Force for Global Health is an Emory University affiliate located in Decatur, GA. Its sixteen programs focus on building durable public health systems that serve all people. Focus areas include neglected tropical diseases, vaccines, and health systems strengthening. The Task Force received the 2016 Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize–the world's largest award of its kind–in recognition of its extraordi- nary contributions to alleviating human suffering.

DEPARTMENT/PROGRAM BACKGROUND: ITI is a partner in the Global Program to eliminate trachoma as a public health problem. ITI’s mission is the elimination of blinding trachoma, the world’s leading infectious cause of blindness, through the stewardship of the donation of the antibiotic azithromycin provided by Pfizer, developing and strengthening partnerships for implementing the WHO-endorsed SAFE strategy for disease elimination, and knowledge management for the global program through the development and maintenance of the database for the Alliance for the Global Elimination of Trachoma by 2020 (GET2020) database.

Tropical Data is a global initiative supporting countries to conduct high-quality, standardized trachoma preva-lence surveys. As a service, Tropical Data supports health ministries and their partners from the start to the end of the survey process, from planning and protocol development through to training, data cleaning, analysis and approvals. The service is delivered by a core team that includes staff from ITI, the London School of Hy-giene and Tropical Medicine, Sightsavers and RTI International. The ITI- based data team delivers the core da-ta service which includes support with electronic data capture, database management, and data cleaning and analysis.

Due to its expertise in supply chain systems management, database management, and ability to build and strengthen partnerships, in August 2024, ITI was awarded a grant by the Gates Foundation in order to expand its role by developing a program to support the promotion of child survival. This effort aims to reduce all-cause child mortality through mass drug administration of azithromycin to children under 5 in three selected countries: Niger, Nigeria, and Mali through 2028.
