Position Description: *Remote Position: Must reside in NJ* As the Program Manager at the New Jersey Public Health Institute (NJPHI), Center for Health Equity and Wellbeing, you will organize and manage the daily activities of public health initiatives based on the goals and objectives of the institute’s programs and services. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating programs that align with the organization’s mission, vision, and values while leading program staff and ensuring program deliverables are met. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the institute’s growth while promoting health equity and driving social change.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Design and Implementation • Organize daily activities based on the goals and objectives of the institute’s initiatives, programs, and services. • Design and implement new programs that support the institution’s mission, vision, and values. • Establish specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, timely, inclusive, and equitable (SMARTIE) goals and objectives for the institute’s programs. Fiscal Management • Work with the supervisor and finance team on budget development, monitoring expenditures, and preparing fiscal reports for funders. • Assist with fundraising activities, including grant writing, reporting, and management, to ensure the sustainability and growth of the institute’s programs. Staff and Program Management • Manage program staff, assign tasks, and monitor progress to ensure timely and successful attainment of deliverables. • Foster a positive team environment, providing mentorship, coaching, and continuous professional development opportunities for staff. Program Evaluation and Continuous Improvement • Simultaneously design process and outcomes evaluation during program design to ensure alignment with objectives. • Design, train, implement, and monitor process and outcome measures to meet program goals. • Actively pursue continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance program effectiveness and impact. Data Collection, Analysis, and Reporting • Lead quantitative and qualitative research design, data collection, and analysis efforts to inform program development, decision-making, and impact. • Generate reports on program progress, outcomes, and impact for internal and external stakeholders. Public Policy and Advocacy • Support public policy initiatives through research and advocacy efforts to promote health equity and advance public health policies at local, state, and national levels. Communications and Outreach • Assist with institutional communications, including managing social media platforms, website updates, and external newsletters. • Develop content and materials to promote program successes, build partnerships, and engage with community stakeholders. Technology and Project Management • Utilize project management software and other technology tools to track program deliverables, manage team schedules, and streamline processes. • Ensure data accuracy and efficiency by implementing digital tools and platforms for program management and reporting. Additional Responsibilities for Start-Up Environment • Participate in strategic planning and contribute to developing operational processes in a growing organization. • Assist in building the institute’s capacity and infrastructure to support future growth. • Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the evolving needs of a start-up organization.

Qualifications: • A master’s degree in public health, healthcare administration, or a related field is required. • Five to seven years of experience managing public health programs, particularly at a non-profit or in local, state, or federal government. • Experience managing local, state, or federal grants is required. • Grant writing experience is preferred. • PMP certification is a plus. • Familiarity with New Jersey’s public health ecosystem is a strong plus. • Coachable and open to feedback, committed to continuous learning and professional growth. • High-level management and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and lead teams effectively. • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize, schedule, and manage tasks. • Conflict resolution, problem-solving, and risk management skills. • Superior written and verbal communication skills. • Cost control and budgeting skills. • Teamwork and motivational skills. • Technology-savvy, with experience using project management software and digital tools for program management. • Experience in quantitative and qualitative research design, data collection, and analysis.
