Position Description: The Department of Public Health at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville is seeking to hire a twelve-month, non-tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice to teach graduate courses within the Department of Public Health in the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s (UTK) College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences. Primary teaching responsibility will be in the Distance Education (DE) Master of Public Health program. This exciting, dynamic, online distance education program was designed to address the growing demand for Public Health trained professionals. We are seeking candidates who are enthusiastic about teaching and have experience in implementing innovative and effective pedagogical strategies around public health, epidemiology, and biostatistics in both in- person and distance education modalities. This position will be assigned to the Epidemiology (EPI) concentration in the MPH program and should have expertise in epidemiology, biostatistics, research design, statistical packages (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R), and public health. The successful candidate will contribute to designing and delivering an agile online educational program.

Qualifications: Required Qualifications: • Earned doctoral degree in Epidemiology, biostatistics, or a closely related field. • Online teaching experience Desired Qualifications: • Earned doctoral and/or MPH degrees from a school or program of public health accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) • Online teaching certification (e.g., QM certification) • Experience with the Canvas learning platform

Open to recent doctoral graduates and ABD doctoral students, however doctoral degree must be completed prior to July 1, 2025. Relocation to Knoxville is desired, but not required.

Organization Description: The Department of Public Health is one of seven departments within the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences. Our MPH is in its 52nd year of CEPH accreditation. Ours is a growing department, providing public health training and education at the undergraduate, Master’s and doctoral levels. We have a history of strong and positive relationships with local public health organizations and workforce. Our MPH degree offers concentrations in Community Health Education, Epidemiology, Health Policy, Management, Veterinary Public Health, and Nutrition. We also have dual MPH degrees with Master of Science in Nutrition and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Our faculty are active scholars and recognized for their significant contributions to the field of public health. Our students are diverse in their backgrounds and interests.
