Position Description: 1-Collaborates with local, regional, and state health departments to develop a community of practice for syndromic surveillance and advance use and capacity through surveillance support and training.

2-Develops syndromic surveillance queries and surveillance protocols to address routine and special surveillance needs for TCPH.

3-Understands and translates use-cases from epidemiology users and hospital infection preventionists into ESSENCE queries and surveillance workflows.

4-Collaborates with the National Syndromic Surveillance Community of Practice to advance the use of syndromic surveillance locally and nationally.

5-Coordinates public health administration of syndromic surveillance systems including the NTXSS and NSSP ESSENCE.

6-Coordinates and communicates with state, local, and federal health department users as well as healthcare facility users on changes and upgrades to the NTXSS and NSSP ESSENCE systems.

7-Performs all other related duties as required.

Qualifications: -Bachelor's degree or equivalent + One (1) full-time year of work experience in a public health setting.

-Full-time experience in syndromic surveillance is highly desirable.

-Knowledge of epidemiological and surveillance principles, HIPAA, and promoting interoperability requirements are preferred

Organization Description: The Syndromic Surveillance Analyst is a key public health role that works across multiple internal and external partners to administer and build capacity for the North Texas Syndromic Surveillance program (NTXSS).

The Syndromic Surveillance Analyst will be primarily responsible for advancing the use and capacity of syndromic surveillance systems across public health epidemiologists, disease investigators, hospital infection preventionists, and state and local health department personnel within Texas health service regions 2 and 3.

Primary tools used in this role include ESSENCE, R, and Quarto for data analysis and reporting
